Brennan Maddux | Teacher
My Email: Brennan.Maddux@washk12.orgI have lived in Southern Utah all my life. I grew up in Kanab and graduated from high school there in 2020. I decided to immediately pursue my career and started at Utah Tech University that fall. I attended Utah Tech from 2020 to 2024, taking a gap semester during that time. In 2022, I moved to St. George, where I’ve been ever since. I discovered my love for teaching during my senior year of high school when my band teacher asked me to be her teacher’s aide. She gave me the opportunity to lead lessons and work with students in the band, that is when I knew teaching was the path for me. I’m what you’d call a busy-body—I always love to be doing something, whether it’s hiking, reading, playing sports, or just enjoying a game with friends. I’m also a very optimistic person, always trying my best to look on the bright side, even when it’s difficult. I’ve loved working at La Verkin Elementary this past year, and I know this upcoming school year will be just as great!

My Email: Tabitha.ramsay@washk12.orgFive years ago after my youngest started school full time, I became a substitute teacher and quickly fell in love with working in education. After a year of that I was able to become a para helping with PE at Hurricane, La Verkin, and Three falls elementary schools for three years. This past school year I have been back at substituting and doing my student teaching while I finished up my BA in elementary education through WGU. This upcoming school year (2025-2026) will be my first year as a classroom teacher, and I couldn’t be more excited to be at La Verkin Elementary. I grew up moving a lot so when my husband and I got married we decided to settle in Hurricane and have been in the same spot for 16 years. We have three awesome kids that keep us super busy! Between sports, dance classes, church callings, and our big extended families, we are always on the go. Some of my hobbies include hiking, trying new yummy food (restaurants and cooking/baking), sewing, and reading a good book while taking a long bath.

Becky Seymour | Teacher
My Email: Becky.Seymour@washk12.orgI've been in the education field since 2004 with a wide range of experience across K-12 education, virtual/online learning, and various school leadership roles.
Before coming to La Verkin Elementary (2019-current), I held roles such as High School Admin at Utah Virtual Academy, Title 1 Coordinator, and K-5 Teacher/Reading Specialist. I started my career teaching 1st grade at Three Falls Elementary in Hurricane Utah and then moved to the position of Staff Developer and Reading Specialist there as well. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Utah University with a Reading Minor. I am currently enrolled in the Teacher Leadership Endorsement pathway as well as the Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling certification.
I love building, learning, and growing. I hope to instill that drive in my students to persevere in life with passion and joy.
